Sometimes you stumble upon situations website so awful that you can't help but burst out chuckling. It's like your brain tries to process the sheer level of unadulterated absurdity and just throws its hands up, opting for amusement as a coping mechanism.
But then, you suddenly become aware that it's not really funny. It's just plain terrible. And the laughter you were experiencing morphs into a wistful, melancholic sound.
After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of bewilderment. You question about the meaning of it all. Was this a joke?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?
Catastrophe of Epic Proportions
The tsunami struck suddenly, destroying entire towns in its wake. Buildings collapsed like house of cards, and the screams that ensued was deafening. Thousands were buried beneath rubble, their fate precarious. The severity of the disaster was unprecedented, forcing survivors to face a future forever scarred.
Rescue teams sprang into action, struggling against time and dangerous conditions to locate those still trapped. The world watched in horror as the full magnitude of the disaster revealed itself, offering prayers to the stricken population.
Worst Day Ever
It all started with a case of bedhead hair. I couldn't figure it to look decent. As I was dashing out the door, I trippedover and badly all over myself. To make matters worse, I was extremely late for work.
I arrived. My {boss|friend|was absolutely furious. I managed to explain, but it was no use.
The rest of the day was just as bad. was a catastrophe. I stay awake.
By the time I reached my destination, I was physically and emotionally wiped out. This day, this terrible day will be forever remembered as a day to forget.

It all started out horribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then everything went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
